I wanted to share some pics of a practice stick that I did in dogwood. I have been working on making different facial expressions. I had a piece of dogwood that was about 1 inch in diameter that I used to make a few faces and some symbols on. Pics are of three faces, deer tracks and one shot of the whole stick.

Did you treat the carving with something after you finished? It almost looks like it was carved out of wax. Very good carvings!

I used about 3 coats of polyurethane. I really like the look that it gave the wood. It also filled in the crevices of the carving and actually cleaned the raw carving up to look even better than when I started applying the polyurethane.
