Wanted to share a walking stick that I have been working on. It is a Wood Spirit carved into a walking stick and then painted with acrylic paint. While carving another stick, I had the idea to try one that was painted. I wasn't sure if I would really like the final product, but had an idea in my mind of what I hoped it would look like. It turned out very close to the image in my head. They eyes are inspired by Steve Reed's eye painting method. ![]() ![]() All comments are welcome. Any ways to improve on future painted sticks are welcome also. Thanks, Adam

Nicely done! as far as improvements...I think I would like to see some lines/wrinkles below the eyes and maybe a little blush on the cheeks and nose. It's a matter of preference though, what you have done works.

I think its definately the eyes that give it life. I would agree with Toycarver, that a few wrinkles around the eyes and forehead would bring out the expression even more. If you want to move more toward realism in the carving, you are going to need to change your 'formula'. Otherwise I reckon its pretty good.

I'll second Kris' suggestion for some blush. The skin isn't all one color so the blush adds some dimension.
