Default Last year's Indian

I did this Indian stick for my friend. I incorporated his initials, NK, onto the medallion.

That's a very nice stick that you have there! I always like them with the full 3-D head on top. Nice job.

Hello Dave,

Thank you for the compliment.

One of the problems with heads on sticks is the stick is round while the head is not. It's very difficult to keep the head proportions to look reasonable. I've been giving this matter a lot of thought and other than making the face smaller, I can't come up with anything else.

How do you other stick carvers address this?

Great indian Ron, It look like its in good proportion, was you trying to do the indian face so the indians nose and facial features didn't protrude from the cicumferance of the stick?

Lonnie

Hi Lonnie,

Thanks. I try to preserve the head mass and the only way is to not cut the nose in too much so his nose is pretty straight up and down. I know that's not too clear.
