Thanks guys. The eyes are just the normal 'teddy bear' eyes you can get in any craft shop. I carry quite a few different sizes and colours for various carving projects that I make and sell at local Craft markets and fairs.

The ones I used on the Hare are 9.5mm. I didn't have the colour in stock that I really wanted, which was brown, so I improvised with the amber coloured ones. I'm going to try this pattern again with brown eyes and maybe a different timber.

I missed this post earlier. Wow. You really got the Hare's hair looking good. I love your cane and your humor!

Excellent! Love the hare head cane and that has sparked some new ideas in my head too. Thanks for letting us see him!

Thanks Wanda,

Had a quick look at your sites. Interesting work. I like the idea of your recycling a wooden boat. I have a similar philosophy about recycling. Almost all of my stuff is made from found or recycled materials. Here in Oz old building demolitions yield the most incredible timbers like Jarrah and Blackwood... just gorgeous when sanded up and polished. I hardly ever paint my work as the wood is just too nice to cover up!

Beautiful looking hare! Love the idea of the ears as the grip. Must make me one of those! Great work.

Thanks for sharing this carving and the finishing information as well. I had never thought about it in that way before.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark
