Default First wood spirit attempt

This is my first attempt at carving a wood spirit on a stick. It is carved on the root end of a Blackthorn stick and it is about 1inch wide. Blackthorn is quite a hard wood, and there were quite a few small knots caused by roots, thes have shown up like freckles. Still quite a way to go, but improvement will come with practice.

Looks great! I really like the way the knots add effect on the bald head like freckles or liver spots!

Looks great! I'll be attempting my first woodspirit soon as I'm drying sticks that I cut this winter. Hope it compares to yours.

Very good first attempt Greyfox. Keep experimenting with the wood. Perhaps try something a little softer and work on getting some depth into the lines to bring out more character. You'll learn lots from the gang here so keep at it.

Great job for you first one. I think the knots add something to it. Thanks for sharing with us.
