Default first carving

hi all heres some pics of my first carving . its mountain ash i believe and had been drying for just over a year , its 47" long with a 5" diameter and just had 6th coat of boiled lynseed oil. the carving is my idea of the wood spirit with a couple of gems from some old costum jewelery and my initials just above the head. waiting at moment for some brown leather thong that i have ordered to make the grip.
i have made this oversize as im a big lad lol and feel that normal sized walking sticks look lost next to me and wanted something with my own touch to it.
any comments good or bad welcomed as this is still a learning curve for me.
thanks.

Hello Ratty, You did a good job on the stick. I am not familiar with mountain ash but I hope that it is a light weight wood.

Hi thanks, the stick itself weighs dead on 1kg , I wanted something with a little weight and strength to it as I'm 6ft1 and 19st lol not a small chap. Its got a very nice feel to the wood and considering it's size it doesnt feel overweight .

Hi Ratty, nice job on your stick. You must be a Large Lad to have a Walking Stick that is 5" in Dia. to feel good in your Hand. Thanks for posting. Merle
