Default Finished Taxus cane

My finished cane out of a thick Taxus branch.
I always wanted to use Taxus sometime for it's ancient history and the beautiful orange core. My goal was to make it as natural as possible, give it some 'stature' by just enhancing the shapes of the original branch, and make as much use as possible of the orange core. Also I wanted a faceted surface, I felt it suited Taxus somehow.

Finished with 4 layers of hard lacquer. Let me know what you think.

That is a nice looking stick. I had to google Taxus to find out what it was and find that it is a variety of Yew. I have a Yew board and it has a great looking grain pattern.

Looks comfortable. I like the forward tilting handles too. Ever thought of mounting a compass in the top of the handle?

I was also wondering what the tool is you have mounted on the angle grinder in the first photo?

Thank you all.

@ Waitpinga Whittler That is my Saburr-Tooth abrasive disk. A much safer option then chainsaw disks. It eats centimeters of wood per second and I use it for rough carving of my sticks and chainsaw carvings. See here: Saburr-Tooth :: Carbide Coated Rotary Tools

Grreat Lookin Walking Stick.Allways nice to see others that can see things in long twisted sticks. After a heavy snow fall or summer storm the debris piles are great for unusual blanks. Here Under The Snow in Iowa (Grumpy) Doug
