Hi Carl,
and thanks for your interest, Birch trees are not native to Australia but are grown as exotic trees in gardens and parks. Unfortunately, the current drought has caused the demise of many ornamental trees and I was fortunate enough to notice that this one had died and the owner had removed it ready for disposal.
