Default Finally finished a stick

I just finished this Indian w/ snake and bear on a (Sycamore?) twisty stick this afternoon. I started this stick last year. It’s 56” long x 1 1/8” thick at the top. The snake is carved on the twist and in the close-up you can see his tongue which is the emerging vine. The scales are made w/ a “V” tool with a rounded bottom I made from a concrete nail. Snake pattern is burned as is bear and Indian feather headdress. The Indian’s face is stained with a light coat of cherry Minwax. Stick is finished with natural Watco Danish oil. Additional elements on the top of the stick are the sun, moon, river, wind/clouds.

Ron, what a wonderful carving, I'll give you a 10 plus on that one without question, that is one of the finer sticks I've seen in quite some time. You can sure be proud of that one, keep up the great work.

And you did that with honors. That is one of the coolest sticks I have seen. Really nice carving and nice layout on the stick I think.

Nice Job there Ron! You did good!
Not sure I would want a stick with a snake on it?
Does it call it's brothers in or Repell them?
Real nice job in the indian face.

MA, burning and carving is not the same as playing with matches and knives.

Thank you Cliff, Corey, Jim-Iowa and Feb. It took me long enough, but I have to say, joining the board and seeing all the new carvings has given me the incentive to finish my projects.
