Default Do wands count as sticks?

There is no section for magic wands, so I figured the stick and cane is the closest thing. Have been working on a big wizards staff, and my granddaughter has been watching progress and asking lots of questions. She finally figured out what a wizards staff is , so she asked me to make her something more her size, so I came up with a Harry Potter like wand!

I told her to be careful and not to turn her baby sister into a puppy like she wanted to, but she keeps trying. Glad the thing isn't loaded!!!

The wood is Cherry and polished up sweet with some oil and wax.

Bob

Canes, walking sticks, hiking sticks or magical wands. Everything is the carvers choice to me. Just have fun and enjoy what you do.

Don't know if wands 'qualify' or not but I'm with you. I made one for my grandson who took to wearing in shoved down the back of his shirt collar like some sort of Ninga warrior. Had to smile. It wasn't long before his brothers wanted them too... then the neighbor kids... Each time a new Potter movie comes out there is a resurgence of interest. I'll be glad when the finish the last one!

A stick is a stick is a stick is a stick.....even a boomerang that won't come back is a stick!

Cool idea Bob. I carved an "Elder Wand" for my niece a few years ago. Actually it was Alder, but she didn't note the difference in pronunciation. I teamed it with a deer antler handle and included a fake "phoenix" feather core. Actual phoenix feathers are hard to come by and I think they are federally protected.

It's a lot of fun to humor the youngsters!

I think Hi Ho Sliver has cornered the market on all available phoenix feathers.

It was sometimes difficult for us Feds to identify feathers; but not those of the Phoenix. Singed feathers have a very distinctive smell!

Love your remark about the wand not being loaded. Good chuckle.
