Default Cane Shank Duplicating

I was busy this past weekend duplicating basswood cane shanks. I finished 25 cane shanks in about 2 hours. They measure 37-inches and tapper from 1 and 1/4-inch to 3/4-inches.The attachment works real nice and faster than anticipated. The cane shanks are for an up coming class this summer. The cane handles are going to be from rough outs. The handle in the pictures is hand carved. This duplcator's attached to a Jet mini lathe. The cost for a duplictor for this lathe was $1400.00, more than I wanted to spend. With some reserch I found a duplictor at Rocklers here in Denver for $195.00 clearence. Only problem was it was not intended to be used on a Jet mini lathe. Opening the box and looking it over I thought with some modifications I could make it work so I purchased it. I had to take the supporting stand brackets for the duplictors main frame to a local machine shop. The supporting brackets 3/4-inch steel retaining pins had to be lowered 1-inch to allow for the lathes swing. Along with the lowering of the pins the outer pins sleeves also had to be machine down 1-inch to support the main frames clamping blocks. This all came out to $150.00 which I thought was'nt to bad considering the $1400.00 price tag. Once I got everything together the total set-up time was about 1.5 hours. I can hardly wait to try my hand at some ornament turnnings with this guy.
