I, and my wife, were able to meet mpounders last Saturday..... along with his wife. And they were absolutely wonderful folks to get to visit with for even the short period of time we had. Mike even parted with a few of his works to offer me some encouragement..... some canes and a Wood Spirit carving he had done. I hope it is appropriate here for me to share my thanks to him.... and if he is representative of the type of people on this forum...... then I hope I can associate myself here for a very long time!

Yall are embarassing me! Kim forgot to mention that he brought me a bundle of twisted sticks, that should make some great canes and staffs, so I may have got the better end of the deal!

It always makes you feel good to help someone else. I have traded sticks with people from other parts of the USA and obtained stick blanks of species not available to me in the South. It is nice to work with a wood that you have not seen before. I was given a piece of a pallet from Italy that I made stick handles out of. No idea what it was. I also get scrap wood from a local furniture factory that comes from Brazil, Africa, etc. I share it with fellow wood carvers and wood turners. Local cabinet shops are also good sources of wood.
