Default Bugs

I have a major problem with borers in my stick stash. I would like to work some with bark on , but wind up pealing allmost everything because of the borers under the bark causing slippage. Can't leave them to cure a full year for the bugs. And then ya have to heat everything to kill whatever may be inside.

Has anyone tried using borax solution as a preventative measure? Whittler

Borax will work. I don,t know when you harvest your sticks but it is best in the fall and winter when the sap is down (after the first frost).

I cut this time of year while hunting or cutting firewood. I have several already. The last few years with these mild winters haven't been the best for getting rid of the bugs. We're getting ticks and seeing honey bees while in the woods right now. Last years cuttings were showing bug sign by april. I store everything up high well off the ground and under roof.

Thanks for the help. Whittler
