Hello all, After web searching for way too long, I'm stumped. Does anyone know of a place in the USA from which I can order reasonably-priced brass ferrules in 16th-inch increments (5/8, 11/16, 3/4, 13/16) and so on? Seems that UK suppliers can provide such for 60 to 70 pence each, but US suppliers start at $4 to $7 each. If I can't find them in the US at a good price, then I'll just order from the UK, as even with postage, they will be cheaper.Any leads appreciated. Reid |

Check out Lee Valley on-line. They have them from $.50 to $2.00 Cdn. with sizes from 5/16 to 1-1/2". They would be a little cheaper in USD. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the pointers, guys. However, I should have been more specific. I guess I've been looking at too many UK sites. I'm looking for "ferrules" that are for the bottom tip of the stick. The ferrules at Lee Valley and other US sites seem to all be collars, or a piece for where the stick and the head join. Any good suppliers for the brass "foot" in various sizes? Thanks! Reid |

An option I use for cheep ferrules/tips is end caps for copper plumbing, you don't have that much choice in sizes, but they're dirt cheep. I sand the burnished finish off the surface of the end cap, so it can develop a nice patina. |

I have had some success by going to a scrap yard and buying short pieces of brass tubing but be sure to bring a magnet. I got fooled by some brass plated steel. Lee Valley also carries a cane tip and hiking staff tip. Very nice and very pricey.

Thanks for the further replies, all. JJireh - Yes, that canesgalore site has the type I want and all the sizes, but the price is $8 for EACH ferrule!!! LollySmith has better pricing, $2.95 per piece, but does not have all the sizes. It's always something! I think that the US just does not have enough demand for such esoteric stuff. Can't blame the suppliers. They've gotta stay in business. Once again, thanks everyone. It's been an interesting little exercise. Reid |
