sorry for the delay in replying Rob. the pattern i used is from the book "Carving wildfowl canes and walking sticks with power" by Frank C. Russel.
not that i used power tools.
it's a great little book with quite a few patterns in.

I agree with Merle so be prepared to take on a lot of orders and commissions if
you take this cane out for a walk. You did a great job and thanks for sharing.
