Default Bald Eagle staff finished

Here's the Bald Eagle head mounted on a Hazel staff.
The head is carved from Lime (Basswood) and painted with acrylics, undiluted.
The staff, after being stripped of it's bark, was sanded smooth. I then used a flexi drive sander to sand out the finger grips, carved and burnt an eagles feather then painted with acrylics, diluted this time to show feathering underneath.
Lastly i burnt a wolf's paw print above the hand grips for extra effect.
It was varnished with a clear hard wearing gloss varnish. It stands 55" tall.
I'll probably add a lanyard strap later on.
hope you like it.

Hi Kev, Great looking Stick, one to be proud of. If you want to see how people think about it, take it for a walk. I put leather straps on all my Sticks, easier to walk with and a place to hang it up if needed. Good job. Merle

Nice stick Kev. I especially admire the texture of the white 'feathers'. I can't seem to get the hang of carving feathers... especially fine ones on the eagle heads. They always come out looking like hair.

Wow, that's a first class carving job on that staff, Kev. You will have a hard time keeping it.

Thanks for the very kind comments, it really means a lot. especially after the trip i had to the A&E today...had a disagreement with a stanley knife this morning...and i lost!
couple of stitches but i came "very close" the severing a tendon.
So i guess i had a lucky escape today. and i wasnt even carving!
so as i say thanks for the encouraging comments.
I have a mallard finished that i will post tomorrow hopefully, if hand stops throbbing
