Love the bark/wood contrast. Did you carve this guy green or was the stick dried? Also, what finish process did you use?

Thanks, the stick was seasoned for about 18 months before it was carved and it's finished with six coats of ronseal hardwood finishing oil rubbed down with steel wool between each coat. Rod |

Follow up question about the process. The bark appears to be finished as well. Was the bark sanded and finished the same as the carving or is the smooth character of the bark natural for sycamore? If it was sanded, how was this done without sanding through the bark. If you can't tell, how to handle bark has been a bit of an issue for me.

One of the best I have ever seen. Love the mouth and eyes and cheeks! It just jumps out at you as opposed to blending in to the stick. Either way is cool but I think I prefer this style of jumping out! Thanks! James |

The bark is finished the same with several coats of oil, sycamore is relatively smooth so I only rub it down with steel wool. Rod |
