Default A work in progress first dragon (lot of pics)

I started this one on tuesday It measures 5' tall and around 28" in girth.

It started without to much of a plan and evolved as I sawed away, the wood is white pine I will post more pics as I finish it unfortunately I did not start taking picture till I had it mostly blocked out.

What a wonderful dragon! I very much like the way you got him out of the shape of the log. His feet and claws are terrific.

I got some more done today, detailed the feet claws and tail, we are having a snowstorm so I only got about 3 hours in.

That is something else. Can't believe you do that with a chainsaw. Are you painting or burning the carvings?

I just carved a baby one yesterday it is around 36" tall
The carvings will get lightly burned sealed then rubbed down with a gray-green stain wash for in between the scales, the rest of the coloration I will do by feel at the time.

wow, really different... i like the baby one in particular, nice flow of lines, in particular on this back....are you doing the scales with chain saw too, or are those chiseled in ? anyway, very nice work.

Doris, I do the scales with the tip of the chainsaw bar I use a dime and quarter tip carving bars on my saws.
