Default Vio's Bear

I haven't posted in a while and other than carving a few bears and a small totem face pole at the cottage, I have been to busy to turn on the computer and look at anything. Cottage renovations are taking a toll on me this summer.
Home for a few days of rest at my pool , so I thought I would post a picture of a Bear my friend just completed. It is not his usual work as it is for a fund raiser at his annual family picnic and his wife who does the painting jazzed it up a bit for the raffle.

Bob.. Nice bear! What's that on his head? I carve the small ones out of basswood. I'd love to be able to carve a big one like that.

Thank you for your kind words.
The small bear( about 2 1/2 feet high) is wearing a hat that we bought at a dollar store. Gisèle, my wife, put some starch on it and we varnished it when we varnished the whole bear. He also wears a scarf around his neck and he carries a bunch of blueberries.

Sounds like a great little bear Bob. I never thought about the hat idea. Good one!!
