Im a tree climber/faller but would like to try chainsaw carvings as a steady income. Any suggestions? I have attached a few of my carvings I have been doing in my spare time the last 4 years.

Hello Crusk I too was a tree surgeon, now my saws are strictly for carving. I started full time over 5 years ago, I used to carve at local shows to promote my tree business and it kinda escalated from there! Working for local people, councils and schools my contacts were already in place to help establish my carving venture. Luckily I managed to get a good price for my share in the tree business which gave me a little cash flow. A good site to carve is esential, I started at a local country park, rent free, passing trade on a daily basis. I now travel abroad to different events every year. Good luck, I hope it works out for ya! dickApple |

Hi Crusk, I didn't see the attached pictures, I'm not sure if it was my computer or if they didn't attach..Anyway, I'd say the most important thing is to practice and study reference material, and just keep at it. Learn from every carving, and fix your mistakes on the next one. Best of luck, if you post any pictures I'd be glad to try to help out more...keep at it. Tim |
