Just thought I would post this for general interest. A new TV show is supposed to air on the OLN network on Jan 24/12 at 9pm. Finallly a telivision show worth watching. It is supposed to be about competition chain saw carving. Bill |

Thanks Bill, will make a note of that. Good friend used to tour the circuit, got tired of the same bunch in the "slash for cash" routine. Had a really cute custom trailer - 12 saws, gas, tools & parts. Then the guy turns around and does a mobile, little sailing ships no bigger than your thumb, toothpicks for masts and birch bark sails. |

I watched the one with the carvers making a wet bar into a sea monster. Talented carvers to be sure, one carver did break out the gouges in the episode I watched.

Steveston Harbor! Fisherman's Wharf! I know that place. Used to take my kids there for groceries and eats. Lots of good food but stay away from the trinket shops. Tour the restored cannery. On your bucket list. There is nothing like making the time and taking the time to do a chainsaw carving contest.. Lunch and earmuffs. TV is no match whatsoever. For entertainment, there's usually some goon with a 4cylinder Honda or 3 cyl Kawasaki motorcycle engine in their saw. V8 saws exist but I've never actually watched one (do a 24" log in less than 2 seconds.) Can anybody recall the name of the business in Prince George, BC., that glues up the 6' x 6' x 10' wood blocks for the competitions? |
