Hi Gang, Just thought I would share with you my first tree carving of the year. This one is the first of 12 tree carvings I have been commissioned to do already this year. I dont know about this resession they are talking about seems as if everyone here has lots of money. I will be carving day and night to see how much I can get done. I am scheduled for double knee surgery on the 17th April so I may be laid up for a few days. This is a maple cluster that the customer had cut down last year. I am only on day one just seven hours into the carving. They want four faces in the tree. The Tree is about three feet plus across and about ten feet high. What I have done so far is probably about 95% chainsaw or should I say 95% Redmax. I find that I use my Redmax's about the same 95% of the time I am sure glad I have two. It is supposed to rain tomorrow so I wont be carving but hope to finish it up on Saturday and start another one on Sunday. The next one is a Black Walnut this tree is about four feet plus across the largest Black Walnut I have ever seen. Again constructive critisism always welcome I can still change it. BTW the lady is by no means finished there will be a lot more detail in the nose and lips plus the hair. Thanks for looking Colin

Two at once! You are ambitious. And, I'm not talking about the carvings. Good luck on the 17th my friend. We look forward to your return to carving after the surgery. |

Hope your surgery goes well Colin...and a speedy recovery. I know how challenging female faces can be so best of luck in giving her detail. Your woodspirit turned out great as usual. I see Colin written all over those carvings but I also see that your adding some new carving techniques to your tickle trunk. Patrick |

Yes, hope your knee surgery goes well Colin and you are ambitious. If anyone can carve that many tree's you can. Be good to that knee after surgery, don't want to undo what's been repaired. Kathy

Glad that y'all are finally getting dug out of that relentless northern snow and back to carving. Looking very good for the first one of the year and glad that you didn't lose your carving touch while in hibernation! Great work as usual and thanks for touching base with us.
