Default A new Bench I am working on

And the finished horse head ready to be delivered.
I took Colin's advice and put some Natural Sikken's stain on the horse head.
The popular is showing a few small spits in the base , but otherwise OK.
I did soak the head in Canola oil when I was draining the can I use for chain oil in the Red-max. I think it helps with the splitting.
The bench is a work in progress and I should get back to it after the big hunt next week.

Nice jobs Bob!

The horse head just glows golden, is that poplar too?

The bench needs a cushion for the lady or a couple of cans a mate to join ya for a beer!

I have found that veg oil tends to mold up, its that time of year, fungus time!

Thanks Dick,
I let the Canola dry for about a week and now I have 2 coats of Sikken's natural on top.
I did take the flap sander to it in between, so I will see how it goes.

Thanks,
Bob

Those are some nice carvings. The woodspirit really stands out. Gotta get me a small chainsaw and try to carve a bear - he looks really sharp sitting at the top of the log.

And only about 175 steps to get a half of a bear. Plus you get a lot of sawdust for mulch if you use cedar.
Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
