I must reflect a bit about this forum. I have placed some posts and never got one reply. This was one of those posts and here many months later( i did this carving and posted last fall) here come some very nice comments and replies.
All I can say is thanks.
I live in Barrie in town and have tolerant neighbours as I do chainsaw carve at home. The wood spirit style is developed after many years of hand and power carving.
My friend Colin and I had the wonderful experience of being invited to carve with Robbin Wenzoski in Embro , Ontario on the weekend. Colin was doing an Angel, while I completed an Owl and assisted 2 delightful ladies( Nancy and Mary Ann) with there carvings as well. A great , great day of sharing carving info and especially chainsawing techniques.
Attached is my Owl so far.
Some more licks with a chisel and some finish and it is ready.
Well I'm new here myself and check pretty regularly. One thing I can say is normally I hit the "New " button. On active days I might miss the second page of posts.
The owl looks great, I'm looking forward to see what else you carve.
Bob, if yer travellin with Colin, yer sure in good company. Man, I sure wish that owl you posted was sittin on a fence post in my yard here in Dunnville. He'd be so happy lookin out over the Grand River. Great carving.
