I dont know about carving supplies in that area but you could order online and have them delivered to the friends house.

Baileys online has all the parts you need

Carving specific link
Bailey's - Chainsaw Carving

I have a 306 and use the rim and drum setup with the rim and drum you just change the splined rim when it wears out instead of the whole clutch cover.

You will need 1/4 pitch chain for the dime tip also.

If geting 1/4 pitch chain will be an issue you may want to get a quarter tip bar, that will run 3/8 pitch chain and really it is not that much bigger of a tip.

Hi Brianh,
Thank you for the advice about the dime blades, but unfortnately niether Baileys or chainsaw carving have responded to my emails. Would you please be kind enough to let me know if they are still in existence. Payment won't be a problem as my grandaughter lives in sacremento and the goods can be posted to her payment per credit card. I am desperate as time is getting few.
To anybody else out there heeeelp!!!!

Thank you Hi ho Silver,
But Tonto not in Sacremento, Tonto in Souh Africa.
The last time my daughter visited there she searched ther hardware stores for Kat tools and no one seemed to know what she was talking about which is understandable as the US is such a large country. I feel that I must organise things via the net to make things easier for her as her time is limited as well Incidently where can she buy back nummbers woodcarving Illustrated bearing in mind that our mm currency is eight to one us Dollar
Again thanks
Louis
