Roughed out this little owl yesterday afternoon with the chainsaw then spent about an hour adding all the detail with my carving knives and mallet this afternoon. One day I'm gonna get me one of those handy dime-tip bars! I'll let him dry out for few months, then sand, torch, and put on a nice finish. Having way too much fun!

Dave love your hooter great character and yes if you carve with a carving bar you will never ever go back to a regular bar. Not only that you will be really suprised at the control and the amount of detail you can do with a dime tip. Great carving sir really, really nice. Colin

Thanks for the comments, thoughts, and ideas... including a 'double' set of hooters and even a hooters bench. LOL ! Colin, thanks for the 'push' on getting a real carving bar for the chainsaw. I've never used one but know that it would certainly increase the efficiency and enjoyment of chainsaw carving. I know that I'll eventually break down and get one after I sell a couple of those $400 bears. Thanks for the encouragement!
