Default Just another bear

Starting to get the hang of this. Keep learning something from each carve. Got 4 saws now. Started last fall with 2 poulans and now have 2 Stihls. Guess which one broke down first. The poulan pro broke the clutch spring. It was a whole 6 months old. This is my first carving after getting my quarter tip 12" carving bar for my stihl 021.

Good job on the bear! Don't kick your self too hard over the poulan. It happens to a lot of us.

Great job on the bear. Your bear reminds me of a local TV weatherman we have in central Ohio. Jim OH will be able to guess which one. They both are what I would call "healthy", "well fed". You get my drift. Well done.

Cute little bear I really like the finish what did you use? Dont fret the Poulan I had one never again. If you get a chance try the Redmax 3200 what a nice little saw I have had mine three years and no problems.

Thanks. As for the finish, I noticed some comments people made about black stains that had that bluish tint to them. I then went to a porter paint store and talked to a knowledgeable guy there and told him what I did and that I was trying to find a stain that actually was true black. He told me about porter paint wood guardian acrylic solid color stain. He added Ebony color to the base. It is pretty easy to apply and one coat is it. I do add a polyurethane on top to give it a sheen, but it would look good without it I think. Here is a link to the product.
