I CARVED THIS ONSITE, THE KIDS WERE GREAT, ONE YOUNG LAD GAVE ME A DRAWING EVERY MORNING AND LUNCH TIME WITH IDEAS OF WHAT TO CARVE. i REWARDED HIM WITH A SET OF GRAPHITE SKETCHING PENCILS. Sorry for shouting I must have hit the caps button! ![]() dick |

| I used only chainsaw, burner and a wire brush, finished with a coat of decking sealer with a wax additive. I hate sanding down, I try to get a finish straight from the saw. Sequioa, giant redwood, my favourite to carve with a saw, not too good for chisels tho. It sand blasts really good after a good heavy scorchin' with by gas burner. The red heart wood and the white sap wood works really well. dick |

Dick that is hilarios I just post a greenman in progress and look down the threads and there you have a greenman bench. Wonderful work as usual such character great imagination sir. Never get tired of seeing what you are doing. You said it would be better if I came to the UK in September instead of August and it looks like that may happen now as I may have a carving job that will take me all summer to compete. What was happening in September in the UK was it a carving event or something? Again nice work Dick Colin

Its great when you can make a carving not only nice to look at but practical too. That's a neat set up with the corner post carved up that way. I like the approach to your greenman....and the other carvings are great also. Patrick |

Dick, someday historians are going to be studying the resurgence of the greenman at the beginning of the 21st century due to all of the wonderful ones you've left in your path. Each one is so very much your work. The story corner is classic Tilley! Christina |
