Default Husky repair

Hi All, Colin was at my place last weekend & brought his little Husky carving saw & said it was leaking oil. Checked it out & learned about the simple design of the Husky oil pump, impressed! everything seemed ok other than a couple of loose screws so reassembled & put some oil in & it still just poured out so uppon closer inspection I found a metled area under the muffler which is the top of the oil tank itself.

I ground the surface clean & installed an aluminum patch over the massive hole!

colinsaw3.jpg
I thought well this problem was due to muffler bolts coming loose & the exhaust shooting directly down onto the tank top so I thought I better rectify the problem in case it happens again!

Filled the oil tank to the max so the cap put a little pressure into the tank & seems to be holding oil so far, but the test will be running it so we will see what happens?
Thanks, Robbin

Robbin,
You never cease to impress me. For you that dont know Robbin he is a fabulous chainsaw carver you should check out his web site and see what this man can do with a chainsaw. I consider him more of an artist than I do a chainsaw carver he has a tremedous imagination and is so knowlegable about just about anything. I learned more in the one weekend at Robbins about mechanics and carving than you could ever imagine. He taught me how to dress my bars and some simple fixes on the workings of a chainsaw. I really went down to teach him wife Laura how to hand carve. You should have seen what she was able to do in just a few hours instruction. She doesnt like computers so I will ask you Robbin to take some pictures and post so the members can see what she did.
Thanks Robbin not only for the instruction and for repairing my chainsaws but for your hospitality. And thanks for repairing that husky I probably would have junked it. Now I know that anything can be repaired.
Colin

Hi Robbin,
Now that I see that repair job on the husky, I can't wait to get the old Stihl saw back from my saw guy at the cottage with the rings melted into the pistons and see what you can do with it. It could become some abstract chainsaw art at the very least.
Glad to see you have some competition at home , now that Laura is carving as well.
Maybe I will see you in Florida yet this year.

Bob

Hi Colin Bob & Hi_Ho_Sliver! Thanks for the comments! Hey Bob, bring her dinw & had a couple of 2 cycle Lawnboys with the same problem as my Niece ran straight gas in one & it ran for 45 minutes before it squeaked to a dead stop! HE HE, used a ring as a chisel! Your welcome for the hospitality Colin & in this world what comes around goes around & the good hearted will succeed!
Thanks again & will post some pics soon of my newest competition!

Robbin, your wife sure did a fine kob on the spirits for the first time around. Mind you, If I had Colin leaning over my shoulder I'm sure I could probably pull it off as well. You can't miss his influence in her work. Great job for her.

Hi Tucker, These two she did all by herself with no help from me & Colin was long gone home. I am pretty proud of her & glad to see her "getting creative"! She did a couple more last night & they look totally different than previous as I think her own style & perception is showing itself!
Thanks, Robbin
