| | Four Stooges Hi Gang,
I am almost caught up on commissions for the time being I have just one huge one to do this week and then one more in october and that should be it for thiis year. I had a free weekend so I thought I had better get the four chairs finished for my wife for the deck.I have been promising her all year to get them done and now it is fall here in Ontario. These are as I said chairs for my deck. They are done in Eastern White Cedar and milled 2 inches thick. They are almost ready for stain, one more sanding with 100 grit and then two coats of Sikkens and they will be ready to go. I am also doing a table out of a huge Redwood Burl I have so it should look nice on the deck. I will post some pictures later this week when they are finished.

| | Re: Four Stooges Those are great Colin! I like the second from the left the best. Looks like he is really tired after a long days work. Very nice as usual. Can't wait to see the table.

| | Re: Four Stooges Such fun Colin. I know your wife is going to be very pleased with them.
From the pictures, I can't tell how they are constructed. Do you have a mortise and tenon joint to support the seat going through the back? or just a brace under it? They certainly look sturdy.
I will be watching for pictures of the table too.

| | Re: Four Stooges Excellent Colin! I agree with Mary - the second from the left has a very hang dog plumb tuckered out expression. I love him.

| | Re: Four Stooges Thanks guys they are a lot of fun only it isnt easy to carve a face into only 2 inches of wood. They are screwed together with 4 inch screws and there is a center brace between the front of the chair and the back board. You could also use the screws in conjuction with Liquid nails but I find them just as sturdy with just the screws. I counter sink the screw heads and use wood filler and sand it smooth. You can see where the nails are if you look but you would have to be looking.

| | Re: Four Stooges They are beautifully done. I think your deck is going to be greatly enhanced by the table and these chairs. I will be watching for pictures of the set when completed. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
