Default first chainsaw carving of my own design

This isn't done yet, but she's coming along and I thought I'd post a picture of her. This is a pine log, carved 90% with chainsaw (steil MS170 with the bar that it came with), used a few big chisels for the face (which is cracked right down the center). She's about 3 feet high.

I don't have a grinder right now...it's burned up, so she isn't smoothed out. Her simplicity is supposed to make me feel more confident..
I will paint her with acrylic washes in bright colors and a little metalic gold on her robe trim that will make her stand out in a garden since she's meant to be an outside piece.

I don't know if I can apply any suggestions, but comments are welcome for improvement to the next one.
Thor

Keep it nice and simple C, I find the more I overwork a piece the worse it gets!

Just leave as is and do another!

Hi Thor, I have no suggestions, just praise for what you've done so far. In my opinion you won't really need to go any further. I like the folk look of this piece and the wood is great.

I painted her and now, my camera won't work. I'll take a picture when I can.
She turned out pretty folky weird, but fun.

I really like how you've gotten hooked on the chainsaw thing... sort of addictive isn't it?!? Thanks for keeping us posted on your progress and hope the camera starts working again. Sometimes I have to shake, rattle, and tap mine a little bit then sometimes it just miraculously starts working again the next day???

Keep it up!

Ok, I shook and rattled my camera, and recharged the brand new battery
and got a picture of the Blue Garden Lady painted.

If you blur your eyes and don't get real close, she's pleasant company. She does have a serious crack down the center of her face.

I can't wait to start another. She was fun.
