| | First chainsaw carving Well I broke down and found me an old pine log behind the house and went to work. I found out you need a good sharp chain. Anyway here is the outcome, still working on finishing touches. |

| | Re: First chainsaw carving Isn't chainsaw carving fun?
Glad to see you tried it. There might be a little confusion since we do have another chainsaw carver on the board, Georgiacarver, aka Greg, who does bears too.
Where in NE GA are you?
I am planning on hosting a chainsaw carving day here at my place sometime this spring. Maybe you can come?
Please show pics when you get the finish on him.

| | Re: First chainsaw carving That's a very good first effort. I find that bears that size, the pick up and walk away with size, are an easy sell too.

| | Re: First chainsaw carving You'd be surprised.
My first bear was what I'd now call a rough-out but it sold for $125. In my opinion, the $50 - $200 price market is all about "cute". Not at all about expertise. When I need some quick inventory, I cave small bears and put one inch black marbles in for eyes. Half inch would look good but the larger marble elicits that "He's so cute!" response.
Cute Sells

| | Re: First chainsaw carving Funny how that works. Spend weeks doing something artsy and the thing that sells is the afternoon job. Good job GA
