Default First chainsaw carving

Well I broke down and found me an old pine log behind the house and went to work. I found out you need a good sharp chain. Anyway here is the outcome, still working on finishing touches.

Isn't chainsaw carving fun?
Glad to see you tried it. There might be a little confusion since we do have another chainsaw carver on the board, Georgiacarver, aka Greg, who does bears too.
Where in NE GA are you?
I am planning on hosting a chainsaw carving day here at my place sometime this spring. Maybe you can come?
Please show pics when you get the finish on him.

That's a very good first effort. I find that bears that size, the pick up and walk away with size, are an easy sell too.

You'd be surprised.
My first bear was what I'd now call a rough-out but it sold for $125. In my opinion, the $50 - $200 price market is all about "cute". Not at all about expertise. When I need some quick inventory, I cave small bears and put one inch black marbles in for eyes. Half inch would look good but the larger marble elicits that "He's so cute!" response.

Cute Sells

Funny how that works. Spend weeks doing something artsy and the thing that sells is the afternoon job. Good job GA
