Talking English Walnut commission.

After I carved a large wood spirit in a pecan stump, the customer showed me 2 english walnut logs and told me to carve whatever I wanted to. The first log reminded me of an owl

So I carved this...

Since I spent too much time on the owl, I took the easy way out with a bear for the second log. Only had an hour to work on it today but got the basics done...

The owl is outstanding.. The pose adds the drama of flight and motion. Not to mention the grain and color qualities you will get from walnut after it is oiled. To me it shows originality in design. Too often I find myself trying to copy others. This piece really grabs my attention....Thank You

There is a very short moment, in time and space, when a great horned owl is trying to fly away with a kill, such as a rabbit. You have carved what I have seen only once. Thanks for the flashback!
