Hello Everyone: I just got a Makita electric chainsaw which came with a small bottle of bar oil. It says to use Turbine oil#200 or machine oil. I have been using bar oil but it is seems to be gobbing up. This is what the local chainsaw dealer said to use. I cannot fine what they say to use. I have read to use canola oil. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have just finished a 6'3" barber pole which I will post a pic of if anyone would like and a boston terrier. Thank you |

See lots of people saying to use canola oil. That is what I plan to use if I ever do a bunch of carving with elec saw. I mostly just use mine for small cut offs and so I do not use any oil at all...... Gene

What model Makita? I just bought one and am doing the conversion to 1/4" pitch rim.drum and carving bar. Have not fired it up yet so don'tknow how it oils. What I did note is that the makita oiler path does not line up with my bar oil hole. If you are using a different bar it may be spitting out more than it should, Are you turning the bar hold down tightly enough. ROOSTER |

| Bar oil has a "sticker" in it to keep it on the bar/chain which helps it to stick to other things :-) I'd just blow it off with the air hose and keep on carving but if you think a thinner oil might help, you can cut the bar oil by about 20% with mineral spirits. I did this during a recent cold snap when the aux bar oiler would not flow to my chainsaw mill.
