Well the snow held off today so I finished the carving. When I was done the customer came out to see it before it was stained. She loved it in its natural state and decided not to stain it. That was certainly ok with me. She was estatic with the carving. Just as I was finishing up a gentleman came up to me and asked me if I could carve his tree's. I paid him a visit and secured another commission this one a double one in each tree. I sure hope the good Lord doesnt decide to shut this poor aged body down. I already have at least five carvings to do next spring. Thanks for the nice comments yes I agree the hair on the top could have been longer but she likes it and I wont change it now.
Colin

It looks so cold and gray out there. I hope you aren't going to carve any more winter trees. I like him unstained, also. Good job!

Collin, I'm impressed with such a large carving, I would sure like to watch you create one. I can only imagine how hard it is to keep proportions correct as you cut, and using a saw to boot! Really though, I'm picturing me sittin in the car-- heater running doing my observing! Earl

Thanks guys dont be concerned its all part of being Canadian we are used to the cold weather and snow. Actually where I was carving there was not too much snow here at the house we have ten times as much. No Joy not doing anymore tree's this winter although I am scheduled to do a Winter Carnival carving for two days in February north of me where it will probably be -15 or better with lots of snow just have to dress warm.

I just bet it turned out great Colin. You be careful on that scaffold in the snow don't need you to fall and break something. Congrats on the new commissions.

It's a classic Partridge! I too wish I could watch you carve one. You make it look easier than it is I'm sure.
