| | A Bit of Carving Fun at ST's Here is our 1st attempts at carving some Owls. ST's is on the left and I have the 2 on the right. We used up some old dry cedar from a few years ago, because the bush is still too wet up here to get into the good stuff.
I think I will change mine into a "Wise Owl" bench shortly. It will look good at the cottage , out near the water.

| | Re: A Bit of Carving Fun at ST's Bob, ya done good on the owls, if you don't have a place for them you can always put one in an envelope and mail it down here to Dunnville, it would look real nice on the banks of the Grand River.

| | Re: A Bit of Carving Fun at ST's Maybe I would trade for some nice pickerel or perch. Haven't been to the Erie beach Hotel for some time.
Just working on a tree sprit for a customer. That's my buddy St in the background. We carved one on each side for a couple from Coldwater, Ontario.

| | Re: A Bit of Carving Fun at ST's Hey Bob, ya ever get down this way, look me up, maybe bring a fishin pole and we'll spin some yarns and maybe even carch some fish. I sure like the tree spirits, spirits are one of my favorite things to carve, but with a knife not a chain saw.

| | Re: A Bit of Carving Fun at ST's Those owls and spirits are some kind of beautiful! Those woodspirits are so gorgeous in skill and in colors that if I saw them while driving down the street, first my heart rate would double up, I'd steer the car to the side then probably start staring. You know, sort like being in love.
Those are really nice. Keep at it. |

| | Re: A Bit of Carving Fun at ST's Thanks guys, it was a good bit of fun doing our first work outdoors.
My woodspirit is covered with the Sikkens product and ST uses something from CIL.
We usually do 2 coats over a couple of days.
That old maple was sure hard on chains, I used up 3 saws the first day, but got the sharpened like new last night, today was a little sanding and the staining.
I am going to make the owls into a bench sometime this week and I will post a finished picture.
