Talking Benching Again.

I've been fighting a mental block over this bench but it's nearly finished now. The log stood in my studio for nearly a month before I started carving. Then we had snow then wind then rain then wind then rain again then wind. And here we don't call it "wind" until it reaches 20 mph...

All Sycamore, even the slabs thanks to my Woodmizer. One end is oiled and the rest will get oiled tomorrow.

this is great two clones... What do you use to cut the openings for the actual seat and backrest to fit in.. Chainsaw? they look like they fit so well together and i can't imagine being able to hold a chainsaw that steady and straight...

I do cut it with the chainsaw. I lay the end, before sculpting, on it's side and saw to a depth equal to the bar thickness {4ish inches}. There's actually about a half inch of clearance. I used to make them fit more tightly but once had to go to a customer's house to help them assemble it because part had moved enough to require a little re-sawing

Question But what price?

Thanks, Don. How much would you ask for in you ask for in your market?

When the logs were staged, and before I started carving, a potential buyer asked about it. He was looking for a special gift. I told him about my "mirrored bears" vision and offered it to him for $2,000. He asked to be notified when it's ready for sale.

Today a fellow wood worker insisted I should ask $3,500 for the bench. I'm not entirely sure I could get that but when considering what it takes to even bring home a piece of wood that large, he may be right...

I welcome comments on pricing from everyone
