Default Another day spent with an incredible artist

Yesterday I braved the stormy weather and took off for another three hour drive to visit with Robbin. After yesterdays drive I now have a even greater respect for my Toyota Tacoma, what a truck. I finally arrived at Robbins a little before noon and I needed to pick up a very large Butternut log that I need for a special commission. So Robbin and I set out on another adventure to find the man with the Butternut log. Again after some harrowing driving in the back woods of Ontario we finally found out man and loaded the log. Then back to Robbins for a great supper and carving talk. I just wanted to show you some of the carvings that Robbin has done. I know you have seen his tree carvings but here are some of his carvings that he has in his shop. The tractor is just about finished WOW it is probably 99% chainsaw carved and is increadible. The other carving absolutly blew me away it is out of Black Walnut, an abstact carving that shows you this artists vision. Every time I look at the carving I get goose bumps. The carving of Smeegle (Gollom) of Lord of the Rings, is so life like its unreal a fabulous piece of art. If any of you want to be inspired you should spend some time with Robbin. Not only is he a great teacher but also a great person. I hope I can post the pictures I took I have a new laptop with Vista so not sure yet how it will go

Hi Dick,
I didn't bring my telescope so I will have to wait for Robbin to post on his website. Tractor looks great from afar.
ST is down with a sore back so I am enjoying the cooler weather for some carving.
Still looking for a place nearby to get hydro for the finishing touches.

Colin, 4 wheel drive sure is great for those winter off road Canadian log finding runs. Glad you made it home in one piece.

Robbin,
you always amaze with your insight into this artform we have chosen.

Colin, every thing you say, and more. I was up to meet Robin a month ago and he's sure some kinda guy. I sure hope he posts pix of the tractor, it sure looks a whole lot different with the yellow paint on it. Thanks for the preview.

Hi all! Colin glad to hear your home safe with the wife! Was a great day & will be seeing you on Tuesday, got your log cut up & standing ready for the frog! My eyes are getting bad with age also but those are just a tad on the small size! I posted the final pics on the Tractor WIP post for those of us with no telescope. Thanks for all the comments everyone!
Thanks, Robbin
