I have been busy carving a big maple stump for the City of Barrie. It was way to high for this old guy so I had their foresters cut off two 4 foot sections from the tree stem and bring them to theit yard for me to carve. The 1st 4 foot section was pretty rotten so I used the other piece. It was pretty well done in so I had to soak it with Rot Fix epoxy after I was done to preserve the sculpture. It is painted with BBQ black and coated with a clear poly. We re-attached it to the tree with a poly glue. I have just finished 2 bear cubs looking out of the trunk of the same tree.. I was a fun project. Bob |

Excellent job Bob The sculpture really adds character to the dwelling, just look back at the last picture and imagine the house without the carving.... Good stuff! dickCheers |

This carving was created from a large spalted maple log that was cut off the top of the stump and carved on the ground. I sealed the whole thing with ROT Fix a 2 part epoxy product before I added the colour. It will probably outlast the stump I epoxied it back onto by many years. Bob |
