Default At the 6 week (or so) point, I have a bear!

Hello everyone! I've been carving since about the first week of May and I finally did something besides a mushroom! I got some lessons from Sheri and although my bear isn't like hers, I'm happy with it for my first! Hope you all enjoy!

Desiree, GREAT JOB on the bear. That is quite a leap from mushrooms. You really have a great touch.

Sheri ~ thank you and Morgan both! I know it looks nothing like the bear you showed me but I'm working on one of those today!
Tom ~ thank you! You're right, it is quite a leap! A very scary leap! LOL! I appreciate the compliments and encouragement! I love this carving family ... everyone has made me feel so welcome!
Dick ~ thank you, too! Slow down! Next? I have to carve the bear I set out to carve first! LOL! This first one was supposed to look way different than it turned out! Maybe green men are next, who knows? I'm looking forward to learning those at Chazfest!

If you can carve a leaf you can carve the Green Fella'

I got some simple ideas and techniques that with a little practice is easily acheivable.

This was the result of a 'Jellyman' fire sculpture...what do you see?

I see a dragon, Dick! That's amazing! It was very cool to hear you on the phone this morning (for us, afternoon for you)!

Ok that is too cool! I see the dragon too.
I've been wanting to try a green man especiallly after seeing some of Dick's work. Des the next time we get together I think we should try our hand at green men.

Des that is amazing for your first bear. At least young lady it looks like a bear. My first bear I sold to a little old lady who just loved my pig. I never told her any different and we were both happy LOL. I still have problems with bears maybe I will ask Chaz to give me a lesson in September. Oh BTW I had a Durolane shot in the knee this morning ($400) a shot and it feels a whole lot better. Scheduled for another in a month it sure is nice to be pain free after three months of pain 24/7. See you in September cant wait I think I will do a green man as well Dick. BTW Dick are you flying into Toronto if so I can give you a ride down I would love the company.

Sheri~ you go right ahead! LOL! I was telling Chaz last night, that requires too much saw control for me! I can't draw with a pencil, let alone a chainsaw! But, for you, I'll give it a shot!

Colin~ thank you! That's a funny story, too! Glad to hear you're feeling better! We've decided we'll probably have you stay at our house in Sept. (depending on your knee), though because Randy and Renee's house has lots of stairs - all of the bedrooms available are on the second floor. But we'll see, you may be all better by then! Anyway, take care of yourself!
