Has anyone had experience using rotary chisels. Creative Technologies, Inc. - the Rotary Chisel

I am thinking of purchasing one of these but I am not sure is they are worth the cost (18-$65) depending on size, nor am I certain about which one to buy.
Any input would be greatly appreciated. I would hate to spend that much if the tool is not worth the expense

I bought one several years ago and didn't much care for it. Control seemed to be a problem. Also if you bump a knuckle with it it is far worse than the abrasion caused by a Typhoon or Kutzall. I only used it a few times. My opinion only. Someone else on here may think it is handy as pockets in pants.

I have a set of the smaller ones I actually have four of them. I dont seem to use all of them. The one with the offset blades seems to be my favorite I use it once in a while to do hair. I am thinking of purchasing the large off set to do the hair on my chainsaw carved bears.

That looks like a beast that would be hard to control!
I am past the "No Fear "stage and no longer consider myself 10 ft Tall and Bullet Proof. If you can handle it it would sure move a lot of material in a short time, but I would be hesitant to put a bunch of work into a project then blow a chunk out cause I lost control for a millisecond.

Thanks. I think I will hold off on that purchase until I have more experience using rotary tools for carving and shaping. I was just looking for an easier way to remove a lot of unwanted wood when roughing out a piece.

I am using one of those "monsters" I have no problem with them ,actually I love it because it sure gets rid of wood quickly especially for using it on hard wood which I use mostly my hands are very small ,no problem hangin on to the tool.

There are many choices and sizes. Which size are you using? Most of my work is done with hardwood and I would envision using the chisels in the first phase of roughing out the piece.

my size is the smaller one ,I wish I could get a picture of it it has 3 corners, I got it from Razertip and it was about $40.00 Cand.but truly I love it I am impatient so I have to see chips flying lol

Doc I went into the website you had on your first post and mine ithe chisel for stock removal the picture on the lright side and it is 1/4 " I hope this helps
