David Sabol is teaching a Power Carving class in Branson, Mo beginning March 2. I don't know if any openings are left.
Here is a link you can check and phone someone. The cut-off date is not rock solid I know. I got in late.

You want the "seminar" link.

Sam,
Are there particular types of carvings you want to use power to learn? Caricatures, animals, birds, relief, flowers?

A couple of places come to mind: The Sawmill Art Center at Cook Forest offers woodcarving classes with very good teachers. I hear their classes are great. You can find out more about them at www.sawmill.org

There's several active posters on this website who live in OHIO and they may tell you of workshops that they're aware of, but making contact with some of the carving clubs throughout your state may uncover upcoming workshops. The Columbus club pres is Paul at: pherbeck@columbus.rr.com Don't know how much farther south you are from there.

One final suggestion is to contact Dick or Barb Belcher: BELCHER CARVING SUPPLY, LLC ... TIPP CITY, OHIO 45371. PHONE: 937-845-0346. FAX: 937-845-0271. E-MAIL: R1BELCHER@AOL.COM. 2006 SHOW SCHEDULE ...
belchercarvingsupply.tripod.com/ THey are super carving supporters and always good to pass on information they have about workshops and instructors. You can use the Club search link on this website to find other Ohio clubs to contact and find out their workshop schedules.

Good Luck!

donna,
thanks for the information, will check them out,
as for what type of carving, mostly i have done horses, and wagons, my family is connected with the harness raching industry and showing Quarter horses,. mos t of what i have done is either billy smith, or sonething like the mini wagons of ivan collins, now that i have some time, want to try some other things, whenever i do anything i usually have to do 10 or more ,just to get my family covered, but lately i have begun to do one item for each one ,of what they might want , bad move on my part, the request blows me away, my kid's think i can do anything, haha.
when i got on this site , i was looking for some classes for carving, but after hopping around for a few day, man , i need a lot of other stuff too, have really learned a lot just from the email,
thanks again for your response,
sam
