New Area

A few members requested this in Susan's thread...and I'm a bit ashamed that I never thought to add it before now!

I hope to learn a lot from this area; i've recently watched Frank R.'s DVDs and learned a lot from them! Now it's time to dig out my foredom and micromotor!!!

I have been using power for 25 years and do more all the time. I still use my chisels and knives but less all the time..I am glad to see this area on the board. Having said that, I think power has been discussed here for quite a while, it was just mixed in with an area called "woodcarving". It all comes out to the same conclusion in my book. Whatever tools you use it's carving. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

power carving is a way for us old hands to keep on carving ,it takes a little more through when planning a project ,and you have to put up with the dust a little unfortunatly,but your carving.its not as easy as some would have you think,and some look down on power carving as not as creative ,but when you can't hold carving tools as good as you us to, power is the way to go to keep on . it's still woodcarving , my thinking anyway Jack

Bob ,Thank you for starting this collum it will be interesting to see how many carvers will come out off the woodworks now lol and admit to Powercarving.
I have been using them for about 10 years now after I had to have 5 fingers fused and it saved my spirit.
The small 10-12 " electric chainsaws are great to rough out and then the always loved Arbortechs next and so on. I should have bought stocks from Dremel loll

Thank You Hi Bob, I'm really excited about the new Power Carving Forum. I'm currently waiting delivery of my new Foredom flex shaft kit. I know there will be a lot to learn so I'll be following along. Looks like folks are all ready posting questions and tips.
