Default My first carving project completed!

I finally finished my chess set. I call it my "Tortured Souls" chess set. The premise is that these used to be people and were turned into chess pieces, and the process wasn't pleasant. Hey, no one ever accused me of being normal. It's been fun, but I'm looking forward to trying to carve something that looks a little more "human".

My next project is going to be figures of my children as different characters in a series of stories I made up for them since they were little. I have to admit that I'm a bit intimidated by it. I really want to be able to do them well enough to have people recognize who they are. I'm crossing my fingers pretty hard! Thanks for all the encouragement and good reviews. It definately feeds the wood carving fire within.

Good work. The pawns are just enough alike as all the other pieces are different.
At that rate, I can see one really major problem: more wood!

Ah, yes. The perpetual problem we all have. Is there such a thing as enough wood? I know I don't have enough. I suppose that the better judge of if I have enough wood would be my wife. I haven't heard her yell in frustration about my wood being piled everywhere yet.
