nope, 1/8 will not fit. Doesn't matter what I do. Incredible! It almost seems it is a 1/16 collet.

Do you have a digital camera? If so, could you post a picture of the collet end of the tool. They don't make a 1/16 collet to my knowledge. They make a 1/8 collet, and a 3/32 adapter, and a 1/16 adapter. I am wondering if there is an adapter in the collet. BobT |

I have been following along on this thread and I know that the latest model of the Micro Pro handpiece is somewhat different than the model I bought last year, but I didn't care for the 1/8 collet with the adapter sleeves for smaller bits, so I did order a 3/32 collet and a 1/16 collet for my two Master Carver hand pieces. That is one thing I never cared for about this machine. Other manufacturers give you two collets, the 3/32 and the 1/8. Since the collets are about $25. the last time I bought one, I thought it rather cheap of them not to give you the extra collet with the machine. I refuse to stop carving to change a collet.....or use those crappy adapter sleeves..... They do put a "pin" in the collet and have the collet in the closed position when they ship it. With all micro motor hand pieces, you are never supposed to close the collet when empty....this is standard. Doing so can cause real damage to the hand piece. I admit that the little sheet of directions that come with the unit also leaves a lot to be desired. If this had been my first micro motor, I would have been at a loss of what to make of it. They could do better in both those areas...the directions and the extra collet. I have found that the collets are also pretty standard. The collets for my very old Foredom hand piece, fit the Master Carver....at least last year's model. I doubt that they could have changed much since then, but I might be mistaken on that. Having said all this, it is a good piece of equipment and I hope you get it figured out. Best of luck to you and happy carving. |
