Thank you, Bill. But I think I just said what others were thinking.
Thanks again.

Well Now! My great family of Wonderful Carvers, we enjoy to view and offer constructive and helpful tips when asked for,but don't attack a fellow carver personally
or the WHOLE FAMILY will come down on you. Susie as I mentioned in my email
to you the Marathon 700 is a great micromotor, the manufacturer recommended two
two locations for service, one on the East Coast and one in Torrance California.

It was not a matter what price I paid for mine but when I purchase a high price tool
from a merchant I expect them to have knowledge about the product they are selling. When after five unreturned telephone calls to seller and three unanswered emails. I googled up the manufacturer of the product in South Korea,I emailed them about my concerns. A extremely and courteous sales manger,Mr.Shin took care of my concerns immediately and also informed me that Lyons Dental Supply is not
a factory authorized dealer.

Positive information the Marathon 700 is identical to Foredom and NSK models, I
have used mine about six hours a day for over a year. This machine is great and so
it still runs like new.

Oh yes Mr. Tiger why don't you let us all know who you really are,how long have you been a carver and what you like to carve. Maybe you can give us some tips that can help us,instead of being so sarcastic or trying show us all how bullies operate. Most of us have been around the horn a few times and have learned how great men and women treat each other the respect,so please never cut us short. We all also know how to kick butts.
Thanks all,
Oscar

Hi Oscar,
I am glad to hear that you found a couple of places to service the Marathon. I looked hard at it when I was thinking of buying the Foredom and I really think they are the same machine....Marathon probably makes it for Foredom. I know my Foredom 1050 is a great machine.

I will make a note of the authorized service centers you mentioned and hope that the dealers who sell the Marathon, will make a note of them also. That way they can be more helpful to customers when they need info about what they have purchased. There is a lot more to selling an item than just filling orders and taking the $$. A certain level of "customer service" is important too. Otherwise you will get a bad reputation that will follow you around for a long time. If you can't be helpful and deal with people, you shouldn't be in business.

I will not respond any further to this guy. His sole purpose in joining the forum, was to leave that nasty post. He's not a carver. He's probably the guy that sold you the tool. His attempt to make you look bad, failed miserably and he has no reason to hang around any longer.

Happy carving everybody.....

Too much space has been wasted already, on this clown!

But the information on the service of our micro motors has been very informative. Lots of things I did not know.

Hi Cole,
Actually, a dental supplier is probably where it all originated since they (micro motors) started out as dental tools and were adopted by power carvers for fine detail. The power in micro motors, came later and they are still not all that powerful....still strictly a detail tool.....but having one that is a bit stronger than they were in the past, is still nice. You don't worry yourself to death so much about abusing it....within reason.

ps. Most dentists have graduated to air turbine tools now but obviously a few still use the micro motor units.

Susie Q-- Did you ever find a control box for your extra handpiece? I am in the same position, i.e. I have an extra handpiece and am looking for a controller. Would like to find a used one as I want to keep the price down 'cause I don't really HAVE to have it.

Hi Doug,
I finally broke down and bought one.... Woodcarver's supply on line.
I was silly not to buy the hand piece and the controller all at once as a set. It would have been cheaper that way. I think the controller ended up costing me $125. I'm glad I got it though.

Did you check out some of the dental suppliers? I didn't think of that. After the way Oscar was treated by the supplier mentioned here and the way that supplier joined the forum just so he could blast Oscar, I wouldn't shop with him but he certainly wasn't the only supplier on the internet... you might find a deal there. I guess the main worry is that the plug on the hand piece, fits the outlet on the controller.

Good luck on your hunt. Have you tried ebay?

Hi, there!!! I have arranged a meeting with Torrance dentist for my RCT tooth job. I want to know the procedure because this is my first visit to dentist and my tooth kind of really hurt.
