I had a minor problem with my unit when I purchased it (actually the unit was not defective) I just made a mistake in the operation. However I did discover that folks at Lyons Dental Supply had no knowledge of the products they sell.

Oscar
You said it yourself " You made a mistake" !!! But still blame it on someone else !!
Take responsibility !!! I think you just got mad cause you could not get a hold of someone ! You have to use your head It is a manufacturer warranty. That means if you were to send it to the dealer they would then turn around and send it to the manufacturer and waste your time. That is why a lot of dealers tell you to send it directly to the manufacturer. And did you think to mention how much cheaper you got it than Foredom ?? $400 to $ 500 cheaper !!

I think since I am smart enough to turn on the equipment I will still purcahse from dental supply companies and save $400 to $500 on the units !!

why such an aggressive response to an old post......and your first post on the forum too.....wow. We're all friends here and we'd like to keep it that way.

As for mistakes, they happen and he admitted it, which means he wasn't blaming anyone. He was just warning that service on this particular machine might be hard to come by and for the rest of us to be careful. Sooner or later, you need service on a micro motor. It's a given. They always need new bearings after about 5 years....or less. If you can't find a place that services them, you are up the creek. Some sellers service what they sell. Those are the places you want to buy from.

I got to say suzie I went to your website and you have good work !
And you got a deal on the diamond burs. I do think they were already used but I am sure they still worked for what you are using them for !
You can go to any dental office and take a small jar and do the same thing ask them to fill it up with the discarded burs and they will call you when it is full !
But to make sure they call you and for they're time you would offer $5 to $10 for a small baby jar full ! about oscar , He forgot to mention he saved $500 on that marathon 700

Thanks Susieq, unfortunately the world is full of aggressive folks, probably can't even stand themselves. I avoid folks like that like the plague. As rule all of the carvers on this forum are here because we enjoy the comradery of others and I have never failed to receive help or good tips from others. To bad the world has to hear this type of agressive reply from someone on this forum. Oh well it takes all kinds.

Oscar

Hi Oscar,
I agree that we are like family here. We get along pretty well with each other and I hope it stays that way.

I go to...... halifax. That nasty is the first I've read on this forum. I've read 90% of mails for three year so I know that contributors are decent folk. If trivia makes that make that person angry, I certainly would n't want to rent a space in their head.

Kumbaya my Lord....kumbaya,......LOL Haven't sung that one in years! Now it will be in my head all day long.....could be worse things to have as a mind worm....

Tiger, I know how much the Marathon sells for compared to the Foredom 1050 which is the same, identical machine. I own the Foredom. And saving hundreds of dollars on a micro motor won't do you any good if you can't find someone to service it for you. At that point, it doesn't matter how much you saved because what ever you paid is down the tubes and you are going to have to buy another machine. That is the point that is being made here.

We share info and tips with each other here, to help someone else avoid the same mistakes we made. Do you know where service can be had on this machine? If so, we would like to know. That would be something helpful to offer on here.

But to hunt up an old post and blast someone for what they said, on your first post on the forum, looks very suspicious....... Are you the owner of the dental supply who sold the Marathon to Oscar? The tone of your post was angry and defensive. I think you owe everyone on the forum, but especially Oscar, an apology. And if you are the owner of the business that sells the Marathon, (which looks like a great piece of equipment, by the way) do us all a favor and locate a reputable place that services these machines, let us know about it, and you will sell a lot more of them.
