Default Mastercarver: The plot thickens!

What I got from WCS

Good Morning,
When you take the hand piece out of the box, there should be what is called a dummy pin installed in the hand piece (it looks like a 1/8" in and is installed like a bur would be). Turn the center turn ring to the left (R position) until it locks into place. Once this is done, you may pull the dummy pin out using your finger tips. The 1/8" collet comes installed in the hand piece and is what holds the dummy pin in place and it does not need to be removed. After removing the Dummy pin, you may install an 1/8" shank burr into the 1/8" collet, then turn the center turn to the right (S) and you are ready to go to work.

There is a 3/32" collet adapter include in the box with the hand piece; it is enclosed in a small zip lock bag. If you wish to use a 3/32" shank burr, turn the center turn ring to the left (R) position until it locks. Remove the dummy pin or burr if one is installed, and the insert the 3/32" collet adapter inside the 1/8" collet which comes installed in the hand piece. Once the 3/32" collet adapter is installed inside the 1/8" collet adapter, you may install a burr with a 3/32" shank and then turn the center turn ring to the right (S position) and then it is ready to operate.

If you wish to use burrs with a 1/16" shank, you may purchase a 1/16" collet adapter (item # 793602). The 1/16" collet adapter gets installed in the 1/8" collet adapter.

What I wrote to the MC Distributor"

Following the directions "I had to take out the dummy pin with pliers, and 1/8 typhoon bit will not in anyway fit"

This is what I recieved from the Mastercraft distributor:

Dale.

I don't understand at all why you would take pliers to anything. Everything you need is included in the box and if it wasn't, you should have contacted me. I don't have a copy of the instruction booklet right here but I do know it's shows the proper way to attach the various adapters that are included.

Unfortunately, because you took a pliers to the unit I can't tell what damage you caused and can not take it back.

My response to GTown, goingbunkers, landingcrafts MC distributor

You leave me no choice but to write a scathing review of your horrible customer service, your lack of integrity regarding, what you sell, that you sell defective units, and that you don't honor your 30 day return policy.

By the way, I have no issues at this time with WCS (manufacturer) This distributor on the other hand, is absolutely horrible, flakey, and neglectful. I left a message for Tim at WCS. Let's see what happens next! Geez, this is all so ridiculous.

No resolve thus far. Tim is not available when they say he is gonna be. He was supposte to be there all day today and if he left there was suppose to be someone else to help me. NOT! Thus far, this is not a product nor a company I would recommend. All they had to do was send me a new handpiece and everything would have been fine. He insisted we talk on the phone to fix the handpiece, but is never available. What do you do with a situation like this? Anyone have any suggestions. I feel like I just threw $400 out the window for nothing. This is all so freakin frustrating.

If you have a lawyer for a friend, letters from them usually work wonders.

I do have a friend that is a lawyer, but I think I may go the route of filing a dispute with American Express, make complaints to ebay and paypal, and any other thing I can think. It is really ashamed when a company is more concerned with selling their item than standing behind it. Another lesson learned regarding cyberland.

If the dummy pin does not come out easily, send it back and tell them thank you very much. Otherwise, it will cost you in the long run. I have read a few very good member reviews which motivated me to buy one. Then I read a review by a member who had a very difficult time and was blamed for the difficulty. When I started to research deeper I found it very difficult to find anything concrete about them so I felt cautious about my purchase. The more I researched the more sketchy the item and company seemed. Then I received my unit after very poor communication from the distributor after purchasing it and it has been a nightmare ever since. The original distributor did not even acknowledge I had purchase the item until I hounded her. All in all, All they had to do was send me a new hand piece and everything would have been fine. I am still hoping they might, but I have grave doubts. I will probably have to buy another hand piece, but it won't be an MC hand piece. So, now I have to do some research to find one that is compatible.
