I believe that one was made for, well I was going to say orthodontists, but it's who ever makes inlays, crowns and dentures I think.

Here are 2 links. One is to Canyon Dental. They are authorized dealers for Marathon. They have good prices on quality equipment and a few of us on here have dealt with them and recommend them for sales AND service.

Electric Micromotor Handpieces

the other is for the company in Korea who makes the Marathon and the Foredom 1050. I did email them this year and ask them if they made both units and they did answer me to say yes. They do make both units.

MICROTECH : SAEYANG

Paul, that little micro motor on ebay, doesn't look like much. It can't be for that price..... I know that when you get your first micro motor, you probably don't want to buy the best one out there but don't start at the bottom either. That thing doesn't run much faster than a Dremel.

Look for something that runs at least 45,000 RPMs. With micro motors, you can't use force. You HAVE to let the RPMS do the work or you'll tear the thing up and that is an expensive repair. So speed does matter. The Master Carver micro motor and the Ram, are both decent entry level micro motors that run in the neighborhood of $300. give or take. If you shop the many vendors that sell carving equipment, you can find a deal. Just remember to check the RPMs before you buy a unit. There are quite a few out there that only do 35-38000 RPMS......
